Renfrewshire Environmental Trust received funding from the Big Lottery Investing in Ideas and Renfrewshire Council
for the costs of a pilot project starting in November 2011, at growing spaces in Paisley and Johnstone.
From August 2012, this project will develop with support of the 2014 Communities Fund and Hugh Fraser Foundation which
will pay for a gardening skills programme and the Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland who are providing funds for timber and other
materials to repair the raised beds. We have also received funds for nest boxes,
hedges and plants for insects from the CSV Action Earth Awards.
The project provides learning, training, and volunteering opportunities for people with learning disabilities and physical
disabilities living within Renfrewshire. It is also contributing to the development of new volunteering opportunities in growing
fruit and vegetables and learning about the food cycle, as well as improving physical activity, health and wellbeing.
